look

Even if everything goes “wrong”, even if it feels like we have no more moves and no energy left, we still possess the power of perception. No matter what, it is always within our control to adjust the way we view our lives.

We must master this power for good. We must choose to favour the positive over the negative. The urge to dwell on what is not right can be tempting at times, but we must resist this pull so our minds can be clear to recognise all that is right.

As cliched as it sounds, everything happens for a reason. When you whinge about the bad things and focus on what should’ve happened and how unfair it is and who’s fault it is, you are missing the point. There is always a message. Instead of choosing to be a victim choose to be a student. Look at your life experiences with a sense of curiosity and possibility. Find a positive reason for everything that happens. If you can’t find a reason, accept that it has happened and it is over now, and one day the reason will become clear.

Every experience is a gift and a lesson. Have faith in your journey and stay true to yourself by allowing your eyes to follow your heart.

perfect

The idea of perfection could be holding you back. Wanting to get things “right” and trying to do it all “properly” can be enough to stop anything happening at all. If you want to do something, do it. Chances are it won’t be perfect and you will make countless mistakes, but at least you would’ve started something. Starting something and not getting it quite right is better than not starting at all.

The perfection you seek does not exist. True perfection is found within imperfection. Things falling apart, breaking, not fitting together as you think they should. Things making a mess, spilling, not staying between the lines. Things falling over, being clumsy, being uncoordinated and clashing. This is the space where true perfection hides, the space where we learn and grow. This is the space where we are free to remember that nothing really matters except this precise moment. If we look closely enough we will discover the truth that we have been seeking, and the perfect imperfection of it all.

must

We all have a voice inside telling us what we “should” do. It comes from the place in us that is scared and small. The place that is more concerned with what others think than by living authentically. The place that is ruled by fear. If we allow it, we live our lives ruled by “should”. That voice gets bigger and bigger and eventually we forget to listen to the other voice – the voice of “must”.

This voice knows our truth. This voice is the true you, but it is trying to be heard in an environment where fear rules. It is trying to remind you of your true desires, and next to the shouting voice of fear it can struggle to be heard. You owe it to yourself to stop and to listen to your true self. Really feel what it is trying to say.

What is it that you must do? What dream must you chase to know you are living authentically? You know the answers to these questions already, you just need to be reminded. Once you are reminded, get moving and take immediate action today towards your “must”.

amazing

How amazing is it that we are here, exactly where we are? Every single choice we have made has led us to this precise moment. On the way to this moment we have connected with countless others, and each encounter has help shape us into who we are.

It really is incredible when you take a step back and think about it: we have been sprinkled on this earth, scattered and flung. We have landed all over the earth yet we still find our special ones. The ones who truly get us – our soul family.

Then there’s that extra special one. That wonderful creature who steals your breath with every glance. They have your heart and you never want it back. They challenge you and support you, frustrate and inspire you. They melt you and give you goosebumps at the same time. They are your favourite thing, and you are theirs. With them, you are home.

Could this be heaven on earth?

real

Talk about it. Keeping it in serves no purpose. The world doesn’t care if you’re “strong”. The world has no opinion of you that is more harsh than the opinion you have of yourself. The world expects nothing from you, no matter how sure you are that it does.

We exist to experience connection, and true connection only exists in a space of authenticity. Be real with yourself, and then you can be real with the world.

And once you are real, you will feel lighter. You will feel free. You might even catch a glimpse of what the world sees when it looks at you.

guess

No one really knows anything. No one really knows what they’re doing, where they’re going or why they’re here. The ones that seem to know these things are guessing, like the rest of us. They just have more faith in their guesses.

So if we’re all guessing, and no one really knows anything, what is there to worry about? If we don’t need to pretend to understand it all, the pressure is off. If we can finally realise we are all the same, we can connect without labels, boxes or barriers. We are equally clueless, equally lost, equally scared, and equally here. It’s time we remembered our similarities and celebrated our differences. It’s time we felt comfortable in our own, beautiful skin.

It’s time we relaxed and remembered our connection with the rest of humanity.

It’s time we took a breath, giving thanks for all the goodness in our lives.

It’s time to fully appreciate this incredible gift we have received – the gift of being human.

Too much time has been wasted as a human doing, wishing, thinking, worrying, planning, stressing, analysing…

It’s time to be.

necessary

Sometimes we have to force ourselves to do things. It’s often the things we resist the most that hold the biggest potential for growth and progress. We build undesirable tasks up in our minds until they are so big we don’t know where to start, and then we proceed to build excuses around the task to reassure ourselves of the impossibility of it.

If we can push through the resistance and ignore the stories we have invented, we can do what needs to be done.

The energy required to resist the necessary is more than the energy required to actually do the necessary, so do it and be done with it. The energy you save is extra fuel for the fun stuff!

do

Do what you love to do because you want to do it. You can’t focus on the outcome, the money, the attention, or anything else external to you. The reward is in the doing. Whatever else results from doing what you love doing is a bonus.

We often make the mistake of trying to turn what we love doing into money. We churn ourselves up in a horrible cycle of frustration and pressure, and eventually what we love doing stops bringing us the joy it once did.

There’s no denying that the ultimate lifestyle would be to earn money whilst doing what we love. We get stuck in the idea that if we can’t make an income from our passion then there’s no point even trying. Or that our gifts are worthless because they can’t be converted into cash. We bury ourselves in our jobs, we neglect to do what we love, we go along on an unconscious ride and then one day we wake up and realise how miserable we have become.

Unfortunately, money is a necessity. We must earn money, but that is not all life is about. Go to your job and enjoy it as much as you can. When you’re done for the day, go and chase your passion! On the weekends don’t sit around in a drunken haze, wishing for more days off. Find out what gets you fired up and do that with your time. Give yourself the opportunity to find out what brings you joy and saturate yourself in it.

Once you start using your time away from work this way you will feel more and more inspired.

Where the pursuit of your bliss will take you is not important. What matters is you are choosing to do what you love.

And from a place of love, anything is possible.
